Profile of Timothy So

My first encounter with the underwater world began in 2000 when I casually did the so-called "Discover Scuba" in the Great Barrier Reef. I was so fascinated by that simple experience and decided to go for a formal course in scuba diving. Shortly after, I got my formal certification at the young age of 46. Then HC Yu generously lent me his F90 outfit, which tickled my long-forgotten photographic itch. In 2002 I got my own photo gear to start the first UW photo expedition in Lankayan Sabah. It turned out to be a very rewarding experience, and I have been carrying my camera for my underwater adventure ever since. The greatest motivation behind my passion I must say is to appreciate and admire God's wonderful creation. "There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number- living things both large and small- in wisdom You made them all."(Psalms 104:25) Pondering at those beautiful colours (the nudibranches¡K), shapes and live forms (from 5mm pigmy sea horses to gigantic mantas and sharks!) I have never ceased to be filled with wonder and awe every time I dive.
