A Cold Dip in Vancouver Island
Photoed by Takako Uno
Good fortune finally materialized on our last dive. A 2.5m tall boulder loomed in the middle of scattered shells with a deep fissure near the top. With the sun behind the rock, I couldn't make anything inside the fissure, so I turned on my torch. Viola! I saw this rouge-colored Octopus inside. Unexpectedly, one of its arms rolled out from the deep crevice and stroked my dive light. The thickness of the sucker laden arm was nearly the size of my wrist!
