Seahorse & Cousins

Photoed by Stephen Wong

As strange as their shapes, all male Seahorses, Pipefishes and Seadragons incubate eggs and give birth to living young. Eggs are deposited into the male's pouch for Seahorses or attached to the abdomen and tail for Pipefishes and Seadragons. This form of male pregnancy and brooding is one of the most amazing wonders of nature.
