My life took a sharp turn when I was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1979, which left me with only one arm. However, that did not deter my participation and love of diving. In 1980, one year shortly after the accident, I started learning diving and was since then hooked to this sport. Diving gave me a new prospect of life where I could enjoy the nature again. I took up diving as my full time job back in 1994, and currently, I am a NAUI diving instructor and a dive shop operator. I started underwater photography in 1985 with a Nikonos V. This camera with a 15mm lens still remains as my main tool for wide-angle work. For macro shots, I used Nexus housing with Nikon F90x. Even with 15 years of experience of taking underwater photos, I still see myself as a student trying to learn and improve further. With diving and underwater photography getting more and popular, I am really glad to see that there are so many good underwater photographers in Hong Kong nowadays. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all my friends for their help and support all these years. It is their help and support which made my diving and underwater photography experiences both memorable and enjoyable. E-mail: mingyius@netvigator.com |
